At Balance Canine, we combine comfortable boarding with focused training to help dogs develop new skills and overcome challenges. Our Board & Train program provides your dog with dedicated training sessions integrated into a relaxing stay in our mountain home.

Whether you're looking to improve specific behaviors, build reliability with commands, or help your dog develop better manners, our personalized approach enables us to focus on your unique goals and your dog's individual needs.

During their stay with us, dogs enrolled in this program receive daily training, regular practice opportunities, and the consistency needed to develop new habits—all while enjoying the comfort and enrichment of our family’s home environment.

Regular updates keep you connected to your dog's progress, and our thorough handoff supports you in maintaining and building upon their new skills after they return home.

What’s Included

Custom Training Plan

Before your dog's stay begins, we'll discuss your specific goals and challenges. Based on this consultation, we develop a customized training plan that might include:

  • Reliable obedience in distracting environments

  • Improved leash walking and reduced pulling

  • Solid recall (coming when called)

  • Polite greetings with people and other dogs

  • Settling and relaxation skills

  • Solutions for specific behavioral challenges

We tailor this program to each dog, focusing on the skills that will have the biggest impact on your life together.

Mountain Home Environment

Our 20 acres in Conifer, Colorado provide the perfect setting for training with natural distractions and enrichment opportunities. While living in our home with us, your dog will enjoy:

  • Twice-daily walks for exercise and training practice

  • Safe, supervised exposure to our horses, chickens, and cats

  • Varied training environments, both indoors and outdoors

  • Appropriate socialization with our well-mannered dogs

This enriching environment allows your dog to learn how to maintain focus and respond to cues even with interesting distractions nearby.

Regular Updates & Progress Reports

We send detailed weekly updates on your dog's training progress, with photos and videos. These updates give you an opportunity to see their development and prepare for their transition home. We're always happy to answer questions throughout their stay.

Daily Training Sessions

Your dog receives structured, playful, and positive one-on-one training sessions each day of their stay, building understanding, confidence, and reliability with new skills.

Between formal sessions, we also provide numerous opportunities to practice skills in real-life situations around our property and home, helping your dog generalize their training to different environments.

Integration into Family Life

Your dog lives in our home with our family, not in a kennel facility – so not only are they comfortable and enriched, but they also get to practice their new skills in a real home environment.

Throughout the day, your dog is surrounded by normal household activities, helping them learn appropriate behavior during meals and relaxation time, welcoming visitors, and other daily routines.

Transition Support

When your dog completes their Board & Train program, we provide a thorough handoff session where:

  • We demonstrate what your dog has learned

  • You practice handling and cueing with guidance from us

  • We provide a written summary of commands and techniques

  • We discuss management strategies for continued success

We also offer follow-up support to help maintain progress and address any questions that arise as you incorporate their training in your daily life.

Our Board & Train program is ideal for:

The program may not be suitable for dogs with severe aggression issues or extreme anxiety. We're happy to discuss your dog's specific situation and help determine if our program would be beneficial.

Is Board & Train Right for Your Dog?

Rates

  • $105 per day, all-inclusive

  • .$5/day discounts for stays longer than two weeks and for additional dogs from your family.

  • 50% deposit required to reserve dates.

  • We offer an optional pick-up and drop-off service to/from the western Denver Metro area for a $20 fee each way, to help simplify your travel logistics.
